About Nelson County Early Learning Center

Welcome to the Nelson County Early Learning Center

In August 2011, all preschool students were moved from the elementary schools to our central location at 1200 Cardinal Drive.  We have seven classrooms, a large multipurpose room, a cafeteria and a playground. Construction is underway to accommodate three more preschool classes and the district's before- and after-school child care programs

Drop Off/Pick Up Information

The AM session runs 8:20-11:20. Students may be dropped off through our car-rider line from 7:45 a.m. until 8:15 a.m. Anyone arriving afterward must park in the parking lot and sign the child in through the front office. Please stay in your car until a staff member comes to get the student from you. Car pick-up begins at 11:20 a.m. in the car-rider line. Please have your car-rider number visible to staff for quick identification. If you send someone to pick up your child who is not on your approved list, housed in the front office, he or she will not be able to take your child. Staff will not buckle children in car seats as this is the responsibility of the parent to ensure proper restraint and safety. The PM session runs 12-3. Students may be dropped off through the car-rider line from 11:50 a.m. until 12 p.m. Anyone arriving afterward must park in the parking lot and sign the child in through the front office. Car pick-up begins at 3 p.m. in the car-rider line. Please have your car-rider number visible to staff for quick identification. If you send someone to pick up your child who is not on your approved list, housed in the front office, he or she will not be able to take your child. Staff will not buckle children in car seats as this is the responsibility of the parent to ensure proper restraint and safety.

Mission Statement

We are a safe student-focused school for children to receive early learning interventions for kindergarten readiness and lifelong skills.

Vision Statement

To achieve our mission, we will be a student-focused, results-oriented team that takes ownership of each child and shares knowledge and resources.

Dress Code

The Early Learning Center does not have a dress code. We ask that children wear appropriate clothing for the weather. Tennis shoes should be worn in order to fully participate in gross motor activities.
